A People list is useful when your team has already selected a practical group in CRM. Turning that list into an Audience lets you preview membership, respect contact preferences, and use the group safely in broadcasts, journeys, newsletters, or manual follow-up.

What this guide helps you do

  • Use a CRM People list as a reviewed Audience source.
  • Preview count and sample members before sending or starting automation.
  • Keep one-time lists separate from ongoing rule-based Audiences.

Before you start

  • Confirm the list name and purpose are clear enough for teammates to understand later.
  • Review the list members and remove anyone who should not receive the message or workflow.
  • Check whether the list came from an import, form, saved view, bulk action, or manual selection.
  • Confirm subscription status and contact preferences when the Audience will be used for email.

Do it manually

  1. Open Customers, People lists, or Audiences.
  2. Choose the People list you want to use.
  3. Review the count and sample people before turning it into an Audience.
  4. Create or prepare the Audience from that list.
  5. Give the Audience a name that explains the source list and intended use.
  6. Use it in a broadcast, journey, newsletter, sequence, task workflow, or one-time review.

Ask Faster AI

  • Create an Audience from the Spring Leads People list, preview the count, and prepare it for a welcome broadcast without sending.
  • Review this People list for missing emails, unsubscribed contacts, duplicates, and contacts that should be excluded before outreach.
  • Turn this People list into a follow-up plan with a broadcast draft, manual tasks for missing emails, and a review checklist.

Review before saving, sending, or starting

  • Do not send from a People list until you have checked the preview count and sample members.
  • Confirm the list is still current if it was created from a past campaign, event, or import.
  • Use a rule-based Audience instead if the group should update automatically over time.
  • Review AI recommendations before sending or changing customer records.

Common issues and fixes

  • If the Audience count is unexpected, reopen the source list and check its filters or manual membership.
  • If contacts are missing email addresses, create manual tasks or update records before sending.
  • If the list includes unsubscribed people, use contact preferences and subscription groups before email outreach.

Connected workflows

Placeholder media

  • Screenshot placeholder: add an annotated screenshot of creating an Audience from a People list with names, emails, and counts blurred.
  • Video placeholder: add a short walkthrough that starts from a People list, creates the Audience, previews count, and stops before sending.
